I Really Don’t Know What to Say

The title pretty much says it all.

This morning, I received an email from a friend of mine with a picture attached to it. Here’s that picture.

My three most recent stories, Nighty Night, The Suicide Engineer, and Room for Two are currently the three highest rated stories with over 100 reviews in the history of CreepyPasta.com.

This was something of a shock, as I don’t pay attention to ratings. Like a lot of writers, I just assume that everything I write is terrible and is being judged as such. Finding out that people really are enjoying the stories warms the cockles of my heart and has absolutely made my day.

Do I expect this to last? Nah, not really. I’m a pessimist like that. All good things and whatnot. Still, I don’t know if this is something that anyone else has ever accomplished, so even if it’s short-lived it’s something that I consider to be pretty darn cool.

To everyone that has read and rated my stories, I greatly appreciate it and can’t thank you enough for your support. It means the world to me. There was a while there where no matter how much I grinded away at writing it didn’t seem to matter. I didn’t feel like my writing was progressing, and it really seemed like it would never be noticed by more than a handful of people. I got so discouraged that I completely stopped for a number of years.

This last year everything has changed. I’m now a professional writer, which is all that I’ve ever wanted to be, and people are seeking me out instead of the other way around. That just blows my mind.

I know exactly who to thank for that, and it’s you, the readers. All that I’ve ever wanted to be is a storyteller and all I’ve ever wanted to do is entertain people. Thank you so much for allowing me to become that person.

Nighty Night Gets the Dark Somnium Treatment

Good news for everyone that enjoys horror story narrations!

Nighty Night was recently featured on the Dark Somnium YouTube Channel. The narration is fantastic, and it’s a great honor to see (or hear, more accurately) my work handled in a completely new media type like that.

Mr. Gangly Hits the Airwaves

The excellent YouTube narration channel, Dark Somnium, has chosen “Mr. Gangly Walks the Halls” as their latest story to narrate! I have to say, it’s pretty cool to hear the words I put to (digital) paper being produced in such a way. Check it out if you have a chance, and remember to like, share, and subscribe.

Did I say that right? Am I YouTubing correctly? …I don’t know how to YouTube.

The Most Serious of Distractions

I’m currently working on my next short story, one that is a bit personal for me as it includes some aspects of a real life situation that happened to me when I was a child. One minute I’m working my way through the narrative, and the next I find myself distracted by an unlikely source. This isn’t a minor distraction, either. This is one that has shaken my world to its absolute core, and it’s sent my mind into a frenzy with thousands of questions pouring forth from it.

Disneyland now has a $100 panini?

So, okay, yeah, Disneyland has always been expensive. It seems like it and the other Disney parks were made for the express purpose of taking your wallet out back and shooting it Old Yeller-style. The Mouse that Runs the House needs that sweet sweet bank.

It’s fitting that this sandwich is available in the new Pym Test Kitchen, because it’s certainly going to shrink your bank account.

I get that it’s a sandwich for more than one person. Disney suggests that it’s fit for eight hungry folks, although the size of my stomach is enough to suggest right back that that is incorrect. It’s still a panini that costs $100.

“But Tim,” you say, “you can also get individual slices for $14.99. You don’t have to spend $100 on it.”

That’s still fifteen bucks for a panini. Judging from the picture, there isn’t even very much to it.

I’ll save my money to purchase extremely overpriced ice with flavoring and turkey legs with eighteen pounds of salt per square inch, thank you.

Awkward First Posts

I never know what to write when it comes to first blog posts. I’ve tried it multiple times in the past, and I always seem to end up with these rambling masses of text that only kinda sorta resemble a coherent thought. Is the first post on a new blog supposed to be introductory? Are you supposed to ignore the fact that it’s the first one and just write as if you’re a seasoned pro that’s been doing this for years?

It’s a mystery wrapped in an quandary rolled up in an enigma. Blog posts, how do they work?

I do have one bit of news worth sharing. My first submission to Creepypasta, The Rotten Man, has been up on the site for a few days and seems to have gained some traction. The reviews are good and the comments are nice, which is always something of a crapshoot when submitting to a new site.

I’ll also be submitting a second short story this week titled A House. We’ll have to wait and see how that one does, but I have high hopes for it. It’s autobiographical in the most vague and noncommittal of ways, as my wife and I recently purchased a new house and there’s some small connection there. Luckily the one that we’ve moved into doesn’t require the “old priest and a young priest” kind of fixing up that the one in A House does.

Be well and be good.
